Travel Diary: 7 Magic Mountains

Even in the desert, the most delicate flowers bloom

I can’t describe my level of excitement that I got to experience this treasure in the Nevada desert. I became aware of the Swiss artist Ugo Rondinone’s “Seven Magic Mountains” a year ago. Luckily, I had an impromptu trip to Vegas and I made sure this site was on my “must-see” list.

“The “Seven Magic Mountains” is a large-scale site-specific public art installation. A creative expression of human presence in the desert, Seven Magic Mountains punctuates the Mojave with a poetic burst of form and color.”–

The art installation will be up until May 2018, after a 2-year run. If you are in the Las Vegas area before then, I recommend taking a drive out to see it. The site is about 20 minutes south of the Las Vegas strip. You will likely need a car, (Uber or Lyft is an option, but the price may be a little hefty). Worth the trip if you are into art, rocks or just want some dope pics for your social media feed. Of course, outfit details are below. 😉

Walking up to the rocks was such a beautiful view. Seeing the neon boulders illuminating in the middle of the dull dry desert was so pretty. It was literally as if you were looking at a diamond in the rough.
